Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to investigate tl situation about preventive education of smokir for elementary among elementary school to supp the basic data for development of smokir prevention programs for elementary students.
The subjects for this study were 200 scho nurses or school health managers under tl random sampling among 5856 elementary schoc which were registered by ministry of elucatic and human resource development.
The structured questionnaire was consisted ´teaching contents about smoking´, ´teachir methods´ and ´instructional medias´.
The results of this study are as followed :
1. There was the highest frequency of ´teaching contents´ were ´adverse effects of smoking´, ´adverse effects of indirect smoking´ and ´addictive effects of smoking´ and the preventive education about the smoking has been mainly done for higher grade students (from 5th. Grade).
2. In teaching method, there were hardly ever done by any methods except ´lecturing´.
3. The most frequently used instructional media was videotapes.
It can be said that the education for smoking prevention is too late, that´s because smoking starting age is getting younger. Therefore, it is recommended that the education for smoking prevention must be started as early as possible. And, the teaching methods and instructional medias must be various, especially creative method must be developed as in ´refusal against suggestion for smoking´.
